Karachi: Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency has disclosed selling of .22 caliber guns disguised as cell phones at a weapon market in Peshawar.
“The MOBILE GUN could be used to assassinate key politicians and other figures,” quoted a local newspaper citing the agency.
The gun is capable of firing four rounds in a quick succession are made of Europe and being sold unabated at a local market in provincial capital of KhyberPukhtoonKhwa. The gun price is about Rs. 30,000.
A letter from the agency alerts security agencies that terrorists, killers and criminals could easily buy and use the cell phone guns.
“Strict surveillance must be commenced to stop smuggling of the guns,” the letter recommended.
Security agencies including Airport Security Force, Federal Investigation Agency and Customs have been asked to provide special training to their staff to identify cell phone guns besides taking special measure to avoid any untoward incident.
“Awareness campaign through media should also be run so that common people, public servants and private security agencies could have a keen eye on cell phone disguised guns."
